We started May by going to look at a new-old car.
It was a 1990 BMW 3-Series Touring. The owner was/is a BMW collector. He has a considerable collection hidden away with more cars at the BMW museum.
We took the kids to a place with a scenic valley near Sigmaringen with a river and a few caves.
The caves all had lots of big spiders but the kids were brave.
One of the caves opened on top of a big rock and a tree was growing in it.
The river and caves were next to the site of a fortress ruin and an old chapel.
This was all that was left of the fortress.
This big stone bridge at Teufelsbrücke was built to connect a hiking path near a monastery.
The kids are always ready for a portrait session.
Hugo is always ready to be helpful with whatever you're trying to get done.
Our next hike was a small castle at Weiler, near Rotenburg.
Hugo loves finding snails, slugs and mushrooms most of all.
We also stopped by a scenic forest path and another cave, Sieben-Täler-Höhle. This one didn't have as many spiders.
We have some big birds that glide around our house. This one caught one of the red chipmunks that run around.
Laura thinks she can run around looking cute and not get a photo shoot.
We got our paperwork in order so we could ride the train down to Bavaria and pick up the red BMW.
We spotted this old Benz at the train station.
The kids love the fast red car.
We finished out the month on a trip to the States. First it was a train to Frankfurt.
We started in Maryland where the 17-year Cicadas were in full-bloom.
Grandma came up from South Carolina to enjoy Maryland with us.
We stayed in Rock Hall, MD, which was close to Chester.
Old friends visited the area along with us.
Always good to see a fellow masochist-connoisseur.
After a few days in Maryland, we flew to Seattle.
After a night in a hotel, we headed to Eastern Washington. Snoqualmie Falls was on the way.
