We started our new year right with a hike in the Black Forest with grandma.
It was in a difficult-to-find place called Schweinbachtal, near Hirsau.
The kids are getting better and better at hiking. Hugo hasn't been in the backpack for the last three hikes.
This doppleganger showed up on our street.
I walked around the entire neighborhood looking for a Christmas tree dropoff point. There were none, so I looked at cars and garages.
I love it when the Germans do this.
These 6 or 8 plexes across the street from us have these cavernous garages built underground for them so we rarely see their cars.
A bunch of cheese showed up.
Typical breakfast time antics.
My services were not required so I went for an urban night hike.
My fav is still there.
Outdoor diners still out in force.
You can't lose if you don't know the rules.
The big kids got to go with mom to London.
Huey stayed home with dad and got the finest foods.
It was a good time to go to the zoo.
This big thing was lounging and could have been mistaken for a statue until he decided to sit up and do a big yawn.
Can't say who these remind me of.
Kids are great at blinking in the best photos.
That's not Astrid.
Huey and dad had a castle to visit, of course.
Astrid had a brother to meet.
Dad took the kids to the arboretum while mom had some alone time.
If you lie down on the couch Oscar will jump on you and stare at you like this.
Laura made some sourdough molasses bread.
The next day, a baked brie. Lovely.
Went hiking with friends down in the alb.
That's not Hugo.
