Train ride to the spring fest had some poetry in place of advertisement:
All the animals in the zoo
enjoy the hippopotamus so.
Because the hippo was clever
and was tired of his gray.
He was painted by the painter
Now you have to pay twice as much.
When you have giant hot dogs you have to "cheers" them.
Hugo didn't win anything at the scam booths so his participation trophy was a shark balloon, which he destroyed in less than an hour.
Riding to school.
The kids all went out on their own alone and each happened to buy flowers for mom on Mother's Day. How thoughtful!
Comparing feet at the barefoot park. The actual barefoot path on this one stopped after just a short walk so I told the kids the path keeps going but it's a natural one, even though it was just a regular hiking path.
Hugo and Jeffrey deciding which way the actual, real Barfüß path goes.
Found a second-hand shirt for him to describe his attitude towards hiking
Spring brings lilacs, ticks for Oscar, and allergies.
I took the kids to a very happy and whimsical forest.
The kids were very confused as to why the garage wouldn't shut properly.
Parking a 48 year old grocery getter in front of a $250k, brand-diminishing grocery getter.
The kids decided that they are a band. Hugo did an excellent job of playing the flakey drummer.
We went to Nürburgring for the yearly classic car event.
We didn't catch all that much of the actual racing, for some strange reason.
Couldn't tell you why about 1 in 4 spectators were women and most were very clearly drug along by their partner.
Very fun to see extremely odd combinations going toe-to-toe.
E30s for days.
The old-car crowd skewed older and the nightlife was reserved for the next weekend, the actual 24 hours of Nürburgring.
Glad I got that rust fixed. Seeing how it was before was literally ruining Germans' entire days.
Just driving your 100 year old BMW at the track on a Sunday things.
On the way back we stopped at an old mine that was Roman, then medieval German.
Hanging out in the mine watching an old-new video showing mining techniques.
Some more modern but not particularly modern mining equipment was on display for the kids to play in. I think German kids are required to have tetanus shots.
Hugo kept his track day ear pro for zoning out.
Astrid had to get up close to translate
We went on another hike to close the month out
Jeffrey made Kentucky Derby cake for the class for extra credit for his school presentation on Kentucky.
